212 Lacrosse of Park City, Utah participated at the LXMATS tournament in Las Vegas this past weekend entering 3 teams in 3 divisions; High School, U15 and U13 boys. LXMATS gathered over 100 of the best teams in the West for this tournament.
The 212 U15 boys notched wins over the Utah Blackhawks 14-4, LA Mavericks 10-3, Vegas Starz 14-0 and Silver Fins 12-1 in pool play. In the semi-finals 212 routed the Utah Blackhawks 14-1 on their way to an undefeated record and a 3-2 championship game victory over the Mad Dogs. 212 U15 finished with 67 goals for and 11 against with a perfect 6 win 0 loss record.
The 212 high school boys had another tremendous weekend finishing with a 5 win 1 loss record including a huge 7-5 win over 3D Colorado in the semi-final playoff round. 3D is the largest and most respected club lacrosse organization in North America, with teams spanning the US and Canada. The 212 high school boys put up 77 goals and had only 18 goals against during their run to a championship that fell short in a heartbreaking overtime loss to 3D NorCal 7-6 after leading 5-2 at halftime. 3D NorCal advanced to the finals after crushing the Utah Blackhawks 13-0 in the semi-finals. Overall, this 212 team has a 17 win 2 loss record over their last 4 tournaments.
The 212 U13 boys finished in 4th place with 2 tough losses to 3D Colorado 6-5 and Arizona Burn 2-1. It’s the first time this 212 team hasn’t finished in one of the top two spots for over two years during tournament play. The highlight of their weekend was a come from behind win over Denver Elite 8-7 when trailing 6-1 after the first half. Denver Elite is another tremendous Colorado program run by Hall of fame coach and player Bill Tierney and Trevor Tierney.
We caught up with 212 Lacrosse founder and director, Mike Acee, after the event. “212 played this weekend for two former teammates of mine at North Carolina, Neill Redfern (battling cancer) and Eric Seremet (recently widowed). It was a message for the kids to play for someone other than themselves and they all played very hard for Eric and Neill. Once again, I’m humbled by the 212 Lacrosse community. The support the parents show myself and our staff is tremendous” he said. “I’d also like to thank all of our coaches; Brian Bilzi (D1- Manhattan College), Court Durling (D1- Virginia), Zach Sadoff (D3 – Tufts), Greg Bauer, Jerry French, Michael Burbank and Bryan Davis. They did a wonderful job helping guide our three teams to a cumulative 13 win, 4 loss record. Thanks again to Adrenaline for putting on another great event. I couldn’t be more proud of our kids and I’m grateful to be a part of another fun lacrosse weekend.”
