PARK CITY’S POMPOCO COMMITS TO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA

212 Lacrosse player Christian Pompoco is looking forward to playing for the Division-II Penguins.

PARK CITY, Utah (Nov. 12, 2013) — Christian Pompoco, senior attackman the Park City High School lacrosse team, has committed to play for the NCAA Division-II Dominican University of California Penguins next fall.

Pompco was named Second-Team All-State and First-Team All-Conference last year, and a captain of PCHS Lacrosse Team.

“This is great news for Christian — all of us 212 Lacrosse couldn’t be more happy for or proud of him,” 212 director and coach Mike Acee said. “All the hours of hard work he put in has clearly paid off, and we can’t wait to follow his success both on the field and off at Dominican University of California.”

Pompoco, who has also played for the Brady’s lacrosse team, offered high praise for Acee and the 212 Lacrosse program.

“I would like to thank my parents, coaches and Brady’s Bunch because they all have been a huge influence on my lacrosse career including the recruiting process,” he said. “The person who has helped me the most with my recruiting process by far, is Mike Acee. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for him. A huge thanks goes out to him and 212 Lacrosse.”

Four year Player at Oswego High School in Upstate New York – Section Three. Still on Oswego’s All Time Single Season Scoring Top 10.

Four year Player at SUNY Brockport- a division three school in the SUNYAC conference. Winner of Coaches Award after senior season.

Played one season of Senior B box lacrosse in the Can-Am lacrosse league with the Rochester Greywolves.

Coaching:

Coached JV lacrosse at Spencerport high school in the Spring of 2013. Served as offensive coordinator and brought the team to a program record of 12-6. State Certified to Coach Lacrosse in the State of New York

Coached fifth and sixth graders with little/no experience in lacrosse for the Park City Youth Lacrosse Association in Utah. Had some great improvements in players, but the important part was that the kids (and coaches) had a blast all spring.

Officiating:

Certified to Officiate through the Genesee Valley Lacrosse Officials Association. Refereed in New York, Colorado, and Utah at youth, high school, and adult leagues and tournaments.

Writing:

Contributing writer for Inside Lacrosse Gear and Inside Lacrosse Indoor. Great relationship with the editor and has a green light to submit articles at will.

Work Experience in Lacrosse:

3d Lacrosse Event Coordinator Intern (Summer 2013): Responsible for helping plan and execute the Denver Shootout which boasts more than two hundred youth and high school teams. Also responsible for helping facilitate camps and other programs that fall under the Events Department.

3d Lacrosse Rising Talent Evaluator (Current): Tasked with going to seek out the top prospects and writing short pieces about them to aid in the recruiting process. Assignments from Canadian Field Championships and the Las Vegas Showcase listed below.

Staff Supervisor, Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Tournament (2013): Responsible for managing a staff of roughly forty workers for a week at one of the world’s most prestigious tournaments.

In both cases, Tahoe and Placid, was tasked by George Leveille to operate the tournament scheduling software and was also responsible for reseeding and rescheduling teams accordingly as the tournaments progressed.

Future

I’ll be heading to Australia to play and coach for the Woodville Warriors Lacrosse Club in April 2015. Based out of Adelaide, South Australia, the Warriors are one of the oldest and most prestigious lacrosse clubs in Australia since their inception in 1899.

Summary

Lacrosse has taken me further than I ever thought it could, and every new adventure opens a dozen more doors across the country as well as the globe. Playing hard, being kind to everyone you meet, and displaying responsibility on and off the field is the ticket to success in lacrosse as well as life.

Rob Koehler

Hometown: Long Island, N.Y.

Playing Experience: Army ’85 – All-American Goalie, MVP, Most Improved Player Award

Lt. Col. Rob Koehler spent eight seasons as an assistant lacrosse coach at the United States Air Force  Academy.

Koehler is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1985. In 1984, Koehler won the General George Ruhlen Award, which is awarded annually to Army’s player who shows the most improvement in his game during the season. In 1985, he won the General James V. Hartinger Award, given annually to the Army lacrosse most valuable player. He also earned honorable mention All-American status in 1985 at the goalie position.

After graduation, Koehler was commissioned as a second lieutenant in Field Artillery. His first permanent assignment was at Fort Carson, Colo., where he spent four years as a fire support officer and a fire direction officer. After Fort Carson, he spent nine months at the Army’s Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Calif., where he studied German. He also graduated from Ranger school at Fort Benning, Ga., before spending two years in Baumholder, Germany, where he commanded an artillery battery of over 125 soldiers. After returning from Germany, Koehler earned his master’s degree in kinesiology at Indiana University and then returned to West Point to teach in the physical education department. While at West Point, he also served as the volunteer assistant lacrosse coach for three years. In 2003, he was nominated for the National Assistant Coach of the Year award.

Before going to the Air Force Academy, Koehler was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas for two years. He served in the 1st Cavalry Division where he deployed to Bosnia for six months and Kuwait for a month.

The Long Island, N.Y., native has completed the Leadville 100, a grueling 100-mile mountain trail run. He and his wife, Chris, are the parents of two boys, Alex and Kevin. They reside in Las Vegas, Nevada.
