212 Players Thrive in Utah State Championship Game

212 players dominated the night at the Utah Division A State Championship Game with fourteen 212 players delivering big stats: They combined for 15 of the game’s 19 goals, 5 assists, 31 ground balls, 14 Caused Turnovers and 8 saves.
For Juan Diego, sophomore Blake Davis led the way with 4 goals and 2 assists including the game-tying assist to Sam Burbank (his second goal of the night) with 2:22 remaining. It was Davis again with the game-winning goal assisted by Andy Schuman (his third game assist) with 15 seconds remaining. Juan Diego Team captains Chantz Hower and Zack Madsen each scored 2 goals to add to their tally as season leading scorers for the state champion team. Blake Davis was selected as the Tribal West Lacrosse Epoch Championship Game MVP for his outstanding performance.
212 players Justus Peterson and Easton Albert delivered 5 of Brighton’s 9 goals. In the minutes before Juan Diego’s 2-point game-winning run, Justus Peterson scored his third goal with 6:50 remaining to tie the game followed by an Easton Albert second goal with 3:03 on the clock to give Brighton a 9 to 8 lead.
Defensively the 212 championship game players also put up big numbers. Brendan Roberts had 8 saves to keep JD in the game. The 212 poles played well. Senior JD Captain Ryan Baker had 3 caused turnovers in his 4th game of the season after coming back from a football injury. Sophomore Hunter Easterly had 4 GB’s & 2 CTOs and Sophomore JC Herrmann came up with 2 GB’s and 2 CTOs.
The final score was Juan Diego 10, Brighton 9.
